The ZIF code: ZIF-90 materials were successfully synthesized in an optimized water-based system. The particle size, ranging from micro- to nanoscales, could be controlled by different amounts of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), Zn/imidazole-2-carboxaldehyde ratio and alcohol (see figure).
