    Abstract: Iodobenzene-catalyzed synthesis of alpha-azidoketoncs and alpha-thiocyanatoketones from aryl ketones with MCPBA as a cooxidant is described. The method is simple, rapid and practical, generating alpha-azidoketones and alpha-thiocyanatoketones from the aryl ketone without isolation of alpha-tosyloxyketones in good to excellent yields.
