Title: A 3D culture combinatorial drug screening device
    Authors: Chang, HC;Lin, CH;Juang, DS;Hsu, CH
Contributors: Institute of Biomedical Engineering and Nanomedicine
Abstract: Combinational drug treatment has the potential of improving treatment efficacy, reducing side effects and minimizing resistance. In this work, we present a device for performing combinatorial drug screening on 3D-cultured cells in a microfluidic portable device which has the potential to be used for testing drug response of cancer patients for personalized medicine. The device utilizes a normally closed pneumatic valve system to operate an array of 8 x 8 individual drug testing chambers. This allows for easy generation of mimicking cell culture conditions for screening potential combinatorial drugs at reduced cost and minimal sample consumption.
