摘要: North America experienced life-threatening outbreaks of enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) in 2014. We retrospectively detected EV-D68 from a child with Wilson's disease in 2008 in Taiwan. After comparing this EV-D68/Taiwan/2008 strain with EV-D68 genomes obtained from the public domain, it was classified as genome type 1-B; it is phylogenetically related to the predominant EV-D68 viruses that circulated in 2009 in Vietnam. It is necessary to strengthen EV-D68 detection globally, including in children with acute liver failure. Moreover, harmonization of genomic analysis of EV-D68 is desirable to understand global evolution of EV-D68.
